BuildHerThon Projects

Where Leadership Meets Delivery

BuildHerThon brings together carefully selected projects where women’s leadership, infrastructure challenge and real-world action meet, powered by Trimble technology, expertise and investment.

Each project responds to a meaningful need, working in context to create visible pathways for women to shape how the built environment is imagined, delivered and sustained.

Projects are the action layer of BuildHerThon.

They are supported by Trimble as the platform anchor, connecting technology, data and industry collaboration to real-world infrastructure delivery.

The projects we bring into the platform are carefully selected to move the work beyond visibility alone and into practical contribution, shared problem solving and long-term impact.

Each BuildHerThon project brings together a real infrastructure challenge, a delivery partner, an advisory group of women leaders and a wider storytelling layer that helps make leadership, learning and progress visible as the work develops.

This is what makes the model different. The platform is designed to connect influence to action, and action to outcomes that can be seen, strengthened and carried forward.

Infrastructure shapes how people live, move, access services and participate in opportunity. Yet the people shaping those systems have not always reflected the full range of lived experience within them.

BuildHerThon exists to help change that.

Its projects are built to make women’s expertise more visible in the contexts where decisions matter most, while also creating stronger links between delivery, collaboration and future pathways into the sector.

This is not only about representation. It is about building better through broader perspective, stronger challenge and more connected leadership.

Why Projects Matter

Women remain underrepresented across many parts of the built environment, particularly in technical, senior and highly visible leadership roles.

Why Women, Why Now

BuildHerThon projects are designed to place women closer to the work itself. Not at the edges of the conversation, but in the systems, partnerships and project environments where knowledge is applied and outcomes are shaped.

When women are visible in live infrastructure work, it changes more than perception. It expands who is seen as credible, whose judgement is valued and what the next generation believes is possible.

That is part of what BuildHerThon is building through every project.

How
BuildHerThon
Projects
Work

01

A Real
Challenge

Each project begins with a meaningful infrastructure, systems or built environment challenge grounded in real context. Trimble technology and data capabilities are integrated to support planning, analysis and delivery.

02

A Delivery
Partner

Every project is developed with a delivery partner whose expertise, local knowledge or implementation role is central to the work.

03

An advisory
group

A BuildHerThon advisory group of women leaders helps guide, challenge and strengthen the project as it develops.

04

A visible
platform layer

Projects are documented through storytelling, updates and shared insight so the work can be followed, understood and built on over time.

05

A future
pathway

Each project contributes to a wider platform model that supports visibility, progression and future participation across the built environment.

Featured Project

Uganda Nexus+

The first flagship BuildHerThon project in Eastern Uganda, where infrastructure challenge, local knowledge and women’s leadership come together on the ground.

Delivered with Engineers Without Borders East Africa and guided by a BuildHerThon advisory group of women leaders from across the global infrastructure ecosystem, the project shows how the platform connects expertise, visibility, local insight and Trimble technology to enable real-world delivery.

Future Projects

BuildHerThon is designed to grow across regions, challenges and collaborations over time.

Future projects may span different geographies, infrastructure needs and partner organisations, while remaining connected by a shared model: women at the centre, real work on the ground and visible leadership shaping what comes next.

As the platform develops, new projects will expand the BuildHerThon ecosystem across the built environment and create further opportunities for partnership, contribution and industry impact.
