BuildHerThon® is a registered trade mark owned by Panelle Worldwide Ltd (“Panelle”).
BuildHerThon is a global participation platform placing women at the centre of the future of the built environment.
Created, developed and operated by Panelle Worldwide Ltd (“Panelle”), BuildHerThon brings together infrastructure projects, leadership collaboration, mentoring, technology, education, strategic partnerships and industry engagement to create meaningful pathways for women to participate, contribute, lead and thrive across every stage of the built environment.
BuildHerThon is currently delivered in collaboration with Trimble, its founding strategic platform partner, together with a growing network of delivery organisations, universities, advisory group members, industry partners and contributors supporting the platform’s ongoing development and delivery.
These Privacy & Terms explain:
- How BuildHerThon collects, uses and protects personal information;
- The terms governing access to and use of the BuildHerThon platform;
- The ownership of the BuildHerThon platform and its intellectual property; and
- The rights and responsibilities of everyone who uses or participates in BuildHerThon.
By accessing or using BuildHerThon, you agree to these Privacy & Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
Part 1 — Privacy Policy
1. Who We Are
BuildHerThon is operated by Panelle Worldwide Ltd (“Panelle”).
Panelle is the creator, owner and operator of the BuildHerThon® platform and acts as the Data Controller for personal information collected through BuildHerThon unless otherwise stated.
BuildHerThon operates as an international platform through collaboration with strategic platform partners, delivery organisations, universities, professional institutions, sponsors and other authorised organisations in support of its mission.
Where other organisations collect or process information directly as part of their own services, their own privacy policies and terms may also apply.
2. Our Commitment to Privacy
Protecting the privacy and trust of our community is fundamental to BuildHerThon.
We are committed to processing personal information lawfully, fairly and transparently and in accordance with applicable data protection legislation, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and, where applicable, other international privacy laws.
We collect only the personal information necessary to operate, improve and develop BuildHerThon and are committed to handling that information responsibly, transparently and securely. BuildHerThon does not sell personal information to third parties.

Where an event is delivered in collaboration with, or sponsored by, one or more partner organisations, we may share relevant registration information with those authorised partners where this is necessary to:

- Fulfil our contractual obligations to event partners

Where information is shared for these purposes, this will be made clear during the registration process and will always be carried out in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.
7. Platform Analytics
To understand the effectiveness and impact of BuildHerThon, we may analyse information relating to platform participation, engagement and performance.
Where possible, BuildHerThon uses aggregated, anonymised or de-identified information when analysing participation trends, measuring impact, improving platform performance and informing future platform development.
Such information may also be used internally or shared in aggregated, anonymised or de-identified form to produce reports, benchmarking, ecosystem insights, research, impact measurement, platform intelligence and other analytical outputs that support the ongoing growth, operation and improvement of BuildHerThon without identifying individual participants.
8. International Data Transfers
As an international platform, BuildHerThon may process or transfer information outside your country of residence.
Where international transfers occur, BuildHerThon will ensure appropriate safeguards are implemented in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.
9. Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against:

Part 2 — Terms of Use
14. About BuildHerThon
BuildHerThon is a global participation platform designed to strengthen the participation, progression and leadership of women across the built environment.
The platform brings together infrastructure projects, leadership collaboration, mentoring, education, technology, strategic partnerships and knowledge exchange through one connected ecosystem.
BuildHerThon is designed to evolve over time through new projects, services, technologies, digital experiences, regional programmes and strategic collaborations.
Unless otherwise stated, all current and future initiatives introduced under the BuildHerThon name form part of the wider BuildHerThon platform.
15. Acceptable Use
By accessing or using BuildHerThon, you agree to use the platform responsibly, lawfully and in a manner that supports the integrity of the BuildHerThon community.
You must not:
- Use the platform for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose
- Interfere with the operation, security or availability of the platform
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems, accounts or data
- Misuse another person’s personal information
- Upload or distribute unlawful, offensive or malicious content
- Introduce viruses, malware or other harmful technologies
- Use automated systems to access the platform without prior written authorisation
- Impersonate another individual or organisation
- Falsely represent your relationship with BuildHerThon
- Use the platform to send unsolicited communications or spam; or
- Reproduce, copy or commercially exploit any part of BuildHerThon without prior written permission
BuildHerThon reserves the right to suspend, restrict or terminate access where these Terms are breached.
16. Ownership of BuildHerThon
BuildHerThon® is a registered trade mark owned by Panelle Worldwide Ltd.
BuildHerThon was conceived, created, developed and continues to be operated by Panelle as a global participation platform for the built environment.
Panelle stewards the BuildHerThon platform and is responsible for its strategic direction, governance, operation and ongoing development, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
BuildHerThon is currently delivered in collaboration with Trimble, its founding strategic platform partner, together with a growing network of organisations supporting the platform’s delivery and growth.
Participation in BuildHerThon, whether as a strategic platform partner, sponsor, delivery organisation, educational institution, advisory group member, contributor or participant, does not transfer ownership of the BuildHerThon platform or its associated intellectual property unless expressly agreed in writing.
17. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, all intellectual property rights relating to BuildHerThon®, including its registered trade mark, platform concept, strategic positioning, Constitution, Blueprint, Skills Exchange, strategic frameworks, operational models, platform structure and associated platform materials and documentation remain owned or controlled by Panelle.
BuildHerThon also incorporates content, technologies, materials and contributions provided by strategic partners, delivery organisations, contributors and other third parties. Unless otherwise agreed, ownership of such third-party intellectual property remains with its respective owner.
Certain content, technologies, branding elements, logos, software, photographs, videos or other materials made available through BuildHerThon may remain the intellectual property of their respective owners and are used with permission, under licence or in accordance with applicable agreements.
Nothing contained within these Privacy & Terms transfers ownership of BuildHerThon or any associated intellectual property unless expressly agreed in writing.
18. User Content
Participants may submit information, content and materials to BuildHerThon, including profiles, biographies, applications, project information, mentoring content, event contributions and other materials.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, users retain ownership of the original content they create and submit.
By submitting content to BuildHerThon, you grant Panelle a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, display, publish, distribute and use that content solely for the purposes of:
- Operating BuildHerThon;
- Delivering platform services;
- Facilitating participation;
- Promoting BuildHerThon;
- Evaluating impact;
- Improving the platform; and
- Supporting future platform development.
Where practical, appropriate attribution will be given to contributors.
Users are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary rights and permissions to submit any content to the platform.
19. Licence to Use BuildHerThon
Subject to these Privacy & Terms, Panelle grants users a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to access and use the platform for its intended purpose.
This licence permits users to access and participate in BuildHerThon programmes, projects, events, digital services and other platform activities in accordance with these Privacy & Terms.
This licence does not permit users to:
- Reproduce or redistribute BuildHerThon content
- Modify platform materials
- Create derivative works based upon BuildHerThon
- Commercially exploit any aspect of the platform
- Use BuildHerThon branding without prior written permission; or
- Sublicense or transfer any rights granted under this licence
All rights not expressly granted remain reserved by Panelle.
Part 3 — Platform Governance
20. Platform Governance
BuildHerThon is governed and operated by Panelle Worldwide Ltd (“Panelle”).
Panelle is responsible for the strategic direction, governance, operation and ongoing development of the BuildHerThon platform.
BuildHerThon operates through collaboration with strategic platform partners, sponsors, delivery organisations, educational institutions, professional institutions, contributors and other organisations that support the platform’s purpose and activities.
Nothing within these Privacy & Terms transfers governance or operational responsibility for BuildHerThon unless expressly agreed in writing.
21. Platform Independence
BuildHerThon is an independent participation platform designed to support collaboration across the global built environment.
The platform may collaborate simultaneously with multiple strategic platform partners, sponsors, delivery organisations, educational institutions, professional institutions, governments, charities, industry bodies and other organisations.
Nothing contained within these Privacy & Terms shall be interpreted as creating an exclusive relationship between BuildHerThon and any participant, organisation or partner unless expressly agreed in writing.
BuildHerThon may continue to evolve through new collaborations, projects, programmes, technologies and strategic relationships over time.
22. Community Standards
BuildHerThon is committed to maintaining a professional, respectful, inclusive and collaborative community.
Users are expected to engage with others in a manner that supports the integrity and purpose of the platform.
Users must not:
- Engage in harassment, discrimination or abusive behaviour
- Intimidate, threaten or exploit other participants
- Misuse mentoring or networking opportunities
- Share unlawful, offensive or inappropriate content
- Knowingly provide false or misleading information
- Interfere with the safe operation of the platform; or
- Engage in conduct that may damage the reputation or integrity of BuildHerThon
BuildHerThon may investigate suspected breaches of these Community Standards and may suspend or terminate participation where appropriate.
Additional Community Guidelines may be introduced as BuildHerThon continues to evolve.
23. Artificial Intelligence and Platform Learning
BuildHerThon may use artificial intelligence, automation and other technologies to improve the operation, performance and user experience of the platform.
This may include supporting:
- Mentoring and opportunity matching
- Recommendations
- Platform administration
- Reporting
- Analytics
- Impact measurement
- Operational efficiency
- Research
- Platform intelligence and ecosystem insights; and
- Future platform services
Where appropriate, BuildHerThon will use aggregated, anonymised or de-identified information when developing or improving these technologies.
BuildHerThon will not knowingly use personal information to train artificial intelligence models beyond the operation and improvement of the platform without an appropriate lawful basis and, where required, appropriate consent.
24. Platform Availability
BuildHerThon is continually evolving.
Panelle may introduce, modify, suspend or discontinue projects, services, technologies, digital experiences, platform features or other elements of BuildHerThon at any time.
Whilst reasonable efforts will be made to maintain platform availability, BuildHerThon does not guarantee uninterrupted access or that every feature will remain permanently available.
25. Third Party Services
BuildHerThon may integrate with or make use of third-party technologies, software, websites, communication platforms, payment providers or other external services.
Use of such services may be subject to the terms and privacy policies of the relevant provider.
BuildHerThon is not responsible for the availability, content, security or privacy practices of third-party services that operate independently of the platform.
26. Disclaimers
BuildHerThon provides information, opportunities, programmes and platform services in good faith.
Whilst reasonable efforts are made to ensure information is accurate and current, BuildHerThon does not guarantee that all information will always be complete, accurate or suitable for every purpose.
Nothing contained within BuildHerThon constitutes professional, legal, financial or technical advice, and users should seek appropriate independent advice where necessary.
27. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Panelle shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential or incidental loss arising from the use of BuildHerThon.
Nothing within these Privacy & Terms excludes or limits liability where such limitation would be unlawful, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
28. Suspension and Termination
BuildHerThon reserves the right to suspend, restrict or terminate access to the platform, remove content or withdraw participation where it reasonably considers this necessary to:
- Protect the integrity, security or operation of the platform
- Protect other participants
- Investigate suspected misuse
- Comply with legal or regulatory obligations; or
- Enforce these Privacy & Terms.
Where appropriate, BuildHerThon may provide users with an opportunity to remedy a breach before access is restricted or terminated.
Part 4 — General Provisions
29. Changes to these Privacy & Terms
BuildHerThon may update these Privacy & Terms from time to time to reflect changes to:
- The BuildHerThon platform
- Applicable laws and regulations
- Platform features and services
- Operational practices
- Technology
- Strategic partnerships; or
- Other aspects of the platform’s ongoing development
The latest version will always be published on the BuildHerThon website.
Continued use of BuildHerThon following the publication of updated Privacy & Terms constitutes acceptance of those changes.
30. Governing Law
These Privacy & Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
Any dispute arising in connection with these Privacy & Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales unless otherwise required by applicable law.
31. Severability
If any provision of these Privacy & Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
Any invalid provision shall, where possible, be interpreted or modified to reflect its original intent while remaining legally enforceable.
32. Entire Agreement
These Privacy & Terms, together with any additional policies or programme specific terms published by BuildHerThon, constitute the entire agreement governing your use of the BuildHerThon platform unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Nothing contained within these Privacy & Terms limits or replaces any separate contractual agreement entered into between Panelle and another organisation.
